37 WEEKS - December 3rd, 2007: I held on to the baby and we're officially full term. My weekly appointment went well and they say I'm about the same as last week (2cm dilated, 90% effaced, -2 station). Doc felt the baby's head and said Kale's engaged, head down, and ready to go down the birth canal. They say my cervix is very favorable and Kale and I are in great shape for labor. They consider me to have "dropped" or "lightened" since the baby is engaged, but I can't tell the difference. Kale kicked quite a bit when doc was poking his head!! I'm still measuring text book size at 37 cm and they feel confident saying Kale is at least 6 lbs if not heavier. They also seem to think it's highly unlikely that I'll make it to my due date and I can plan for him to be here some time before 39 weeks, which is December 17th. I've still got my money on December 12th. They told me to go ahead and walk to help me dilate more, but I think I'll hold off trying to send myself into labor till next week. So, I'm anxiously waiting, crossing the days off of the calendar, searching for tiny signs of labor to start. My contractions do seem slightly more painful, but I can still walk and talk through them and they are not getting "stronger, longer, closer together". Every night, I pretty much feel more pregnant and miserable than the last - any kind of movement is incredibly uncomfortable. And I'm not even nesting - I'm just tired! But really, I shouldn't complain - working from home gives me the flexibility to keep working, but to rest when I need to, and overall, I've had a wonderful pregnancy. I'll check back in on December 10th, and we'll see if I've made it to my 38 week check-up!!
38 WEEKS - December 10th, 2007: Has Kale arrived yet? Stay tuned!
